The History of Cinema Bizarre

Cinema Bizarre is a five man band based in Berlin, Germany; consisting of Strify (lead vocalist), Yu (guitarist), Kiro (bass guitarist), Luminor (keyboardist and second vocalist), and Shin (drummer). Cinema Bizarre encompasses elements of glam rock, Japanese visual kei, goth rock, electro, rock, new romantic and new wave, making them one dynamic quintet of a band.

It all started with the internet. Through communication via the internet, Strify, Yu, Kiro, Luminor, and Shin, got to know each other. Their first face to face meeting, however, was at an anime/manga convention (Japanese cartoons and comics). Soon after this meeting the five got a record deal.

In October 2007, Cinema Bizarre's debut album Final Attraction was released and saw chart success in countries such as Germany, Austria, and Italy. The singles that followed: Lovesongs (They Kill Me), Forever or Never and Escape to the Stars, also saw success on the music charts in Germany, Austria, France, and Poland. The international success of Cinema Bizarre, is due in large part to their fans World Wide, a fan base that grew rapidly due to cyberspace, and the astronomical number of forums, and fan pages dedicated to the guys.

In late 2008 Luminor had to depart from the band for personal reasons. Romeo, who had filled in for Luminor was soon announced to be the band’s new keyboard player. Around this time, the second studio album titled ToyZ was announced to be coming out in 2009.

2009 has proven to be a very busy and successful year for Cinema Bizarre. Starting in March the band began to tour the United States with Lady GaGa as one of her opening acts on the Fame Ball Tour. The boys also had two concerts in the United States, one in LA at The Knitting Factory (April 20), and later on that week in NYC at The Highline Ball Room (April 24). Both shows were sold out. The EP Single for Lovesongs (They Kill Me) quickly sold out of Hot Topic stores across the country, and an American album titled BANG! was announced to be released on August 25, 2009.

Cinema Bizarre have proven themselves to be an unstoppable force across Europe and now the United States!
